St Donat's Castle

St Donat’s Castle, a 900-year-old treasure, is the beating heart of UWC Atlantic—a symbol of history, inspiration, and global connection. As its custodians, we are committed to preserving this extraordinary landmark for future generations of students and the wider community.

But time has taken its toll. Parts of the castle are in urgent need of repair, with water damage making some spaces unusable. Maintaining a building of this magnitude is a monumental task—42 roofs require eventual replacement, and we are prioritizing the most critical. We’ve restored the roof of the former sick bay, and now, we urgently need your support to save the Portcullis Tower and Brewhouse, securing their future as vital parts of this historic site.

Beyond the castle walls, we’re working to revive spaces that enrich our students’ lives. One beloved landmark, the greenhouse in the valley, has long been a haven where generations of students connected with nature, cultivated skills, and found solace. Today, it stands in disrepair, unsafe for use. By restoring or replacing it, we can bring this sanctuary back to life, offering current and future students the chance to create their own memories in this special place.
