$5 million Endowment Fund campaign launched

UWC Atlantic launches ambitious $5 Million fundraising challenge to secure forever scholarships

St. Donat’s, Wales – UWC Atlantic is thrilled to announce the launch of the UWC Atlantic Forever Scholarships Challenge, a transformative fundraising initiative aimed at ensuring a sustainable future for scholarships at the college. With a bold goal of raising $5 million by November 2025, the initiative will create a perpetual source of funding to support four scholarship students at UWC Atlantic every year - forever.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the van Otterloo family and an anonymous donor, every gift given before 30th November 2025 will go even further. The $5 million we raise will generate $2.25 million of match funding.

The challenge has already begun thanks to Jill Longson an alumna from 1981 and Chair of the Board of Governors and her husband Colin Habgood who have pledged a matching donation to encourage others to give. Now:

  • The first $800,000 raised will be matched 100%, doubling every dollar - meaning every $100,000 donated becomes $200,000.
  • Additional donations on top of that, will still receive a remarkable 50% match, further amplifying their impact.

With this match funding, UWC Atlantic has a unique opportunity to nearly double UWC Atlantic’s endowment funding pool enabling UWC Atlantic to secure the resources needed to transform the lives of talented students for generations to come.

"Colin and I made this decision because we are deeply committed to ensuring the long-term financial sustainability of UWC Atlantic, particularly encouraging and supporting the deliberate diversity of our students that makes the UWC experience so special. Inspired by the transformative opportunities made possible through the UWC Endowment Fund, we are proud to give back in a way that will leave a lasting legacy. To leverage this impact, we are offering our own match challenge – an invitation to join us in securing the enduring future of UWC Atlantic. Together, we can empower generations of students to thrive and make a difference in the world."

UWC Atlantic Endowment donations will be invested in the UWC Endowment Fund. A bold, game-changing, UWC movement-wide initiative open to all UWC Colleges, the UWC International Office and National Committees. It is managed by the UWC Endowment Management Investment Team, regulated by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority and overseen by an independent Board.

The UWC Endowment Fund is managed on a not-for-profit basis, ensuring responsible and sustainable fund management.

The need for accessible education has never been greater. UWC Atlantic calls on its global community of alumni, supporters, and education advocates to join this critical campaign and leave a lasting legacy. Every dollar donated will bring the college closer to a world where access to education is driven by potential, not privilege.

Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo

“If we somehow could find a way so that UWC could become several hundred schools with the same mission, with the same idea of bringing students together from all these cultures and backgrounds, education would enable a better world,”

Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo, match funders of the UWC Endowment initiative
